Enhancement Project - Bleaching

For this bleaching effect. firstly you need to select the area you would like to keep. To secure them you paint over them with nail polish to make sure that part of the image is kept. When this has dried you the put your image in bleach. When you can see the image starting to turn you pull it out wearing protective gloves. After this has process is done you then wash it off and dry the image.

I got different effect with my digital colour images and my black and white darkroom ones. As you can see my digital ones just faded with the bleach there the key areas were just highlighted with the nail varnish. The effect work alot better with my black and white film ones and as i was washing off the bleach i could actually removed some of the image with the finger. I then went on to experiment with using an image i had dyed with food colouring. As you can see the nail varnish kept the parts with the food colouring. I then used a pbjects and covered in bleach and placed them onto the image.

I particularity enjoyed this technique as it was very experimental. You didn't quite know how you're image was going to turn out which made it all more exciting!
